Hobbies: Kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and reading.

 

Favorite part of working at the Y: “My favorite part of working for the Y is the people. The members and staff make the Y unlike any other place to work. We need community now more than ever and I am proud to work for an organization that fosters connection."

Hometown: Silver Lake, Kansas

 

Y Start Date: 2001, returned 2004

 

Certifications: Masters in Health, Physical Education & Recreation from Emporia State University

 

Hobbies: Spending time with family and friends, going to sporting events, watching sports and staying active.

 

Favorite part of working at the Y: "Helping people improve their overall health and making it a welcoming place for all."

Hunter Turley, Aquatics Director

Hometown: Kansas City, Kansas

 

Y Start Date: February 2018, returned January 2023

 

Certifications: Graduated from Piper High School in 2018 and Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2020 with a focus in business. Currently wrapping up Bachelors in Business Administration at Ottawa University. Lifeguard at the Providence YMCA in 2017, promoted to Head Guard. Transferred to the North Kansas City YMCA in 2019, promoted to Aquatics Director.

 

Hobbies: Weightlifting, chess, soccer and motorcycles.

 

Favorite part of working at the Y: "Creating a culture that revolves around safety and accountability. Lifeguards are the highest-qualified representative to respond to emergencies at any facility and we need to ensure that they are given the proper training, attention and care to make certain that they are always ready for action."

Carlos Colston, Northland Sports Director

Hometown: Kansas City, Missouri

 

Y Start Date: December 2015

 

Certifications: Human Resources and Business Management training; State of Missouri High School Sports Official; Certified NFL Flag Football Official

 

Hobbies: Cooking, eating and sharing family time together as well as sports and video games when I can.

 

Favorite part of working at the Y: "Everything! When you enjoy what you do, it's not work. It's fun!"
