Why Work at the Y?

It’s so much more than child care or babysitting. It’s about fostering achievement, relationships and belonging. Our Y Club before and after school program team members are enthusiastic about their work because they are positively impacting kids every day. Plus:

Future employers respect the Y

When future employers see the Y on your resume, they think of a nonprofit organization with local impact that’s part of a national and international network that’s existed for more than 175 years. We have a reputation for hiring good people who do great things.

Every day is something new

When you work at Y Club or summer day camp, every day is a new adventure. One moment you’ll be helping kids with homework and the next you’ll be leading a big art project or games outside.

Free Y membership

When you work for the Y, you’ll enjoy the perks of being a Y member including access to all 11 Y centers and discounts on programs, child care and summer day camp.

The job is designed with your schedule in mind

Part-time and full-time positions are available, making jobs at the Y ideal for students and non-students alike. Y Club positions follow the school-year calendar. Camp positions begin after most colleges get out and end when it's time to go back to school.

The best co-workers ever

In Y Club, you’ll work among others who share a mission of creating a welcoming, safe family atmosphere for children in our communities. Plus, it’s a great place to make new lifelong friends that share a desire to make our community a better place.

Benefits & Growth

Full-time positions enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, paid time off, and more. All positions are eligible for training, professional development, and can contribute to the Y Retirement Savings Plan (403b) starting on day one. In addition, once age and service eligibility requirements are met, associates are automatically enrolled in the Y Retirement Plan, with YMCA employer contributions based on salary—no employee contribution required.

What Type of Career is Y Club?

More than you think. Y Club positions can be a great part-time job, with options to work around your passions, school or other responsibilities. Even full-time opportunities are available to work at Y Club school sites during the school year and day camps during the summer.

With experience, you can grow into jobs like Youth Development Leader, Site Supervisor, Assistant Site Supervisor, or even transition into administrative and youth leadership careers based on your interests and performance. Jobs can be a great opportunity for education and social work students, current or retired teachers and school staff and others working toward any career with youth.

Y Club is also a great way to come back to working, to stay active and engaged in your community, with great pay and benefits, too.

When you join our Y Club team, you’ll discover the joys of helping kids learn, stay physically active and giving them a healthy snack or meal that many of them may not have at home. As you grow and develop in your career alongside the children in your care, you’ll inspire them to achieve and you’ll be inventing your future, too.
