Our first-ever Pick Your Battle tournament is coming your way, and it’s serving up two of the fastest-growing sports in America: pickleball and cornhole. This event has all of the ingredients for a good time, while helping to strengthen and support our community.

Proceeds benefit the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. Funds raised will help us sustain the vital programs and services our community needs. Your support can help provide food for those who are hungry, child care for parents who work, a safe space for kids after school, outreach to seniors who are feeling isolated, life-saving water safety and swim lessons to eliminate drowning, a welcoming place for newcomers, and so much more.

Pre-registration is required. Deadline to register is March 1. Register at the link below or text PickYourBattle to 76278. 

Registration Fees:
$100 - Pickleball Team
$60 - Cornhole Team

Centers* will have adjusted hours for the New Year holiday. Hours for Saturday, December 31 will be 8 a.m. to noon. Hours for Sunday, January 1 will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Have a great holiday!

*The Atchison, Bonner Springs and Linwood YMCAs will be closed Sunday, January 1.

We sat down with Megan Walker, Healthy Living Director at Platte County Community Center North, to talk about staying healthy and managing stress during the holiday season.

YMCA, United Healthcare Hosting Medicare Information Sessions

United Healthcare has partnered with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City to bring public Medicare information sessions all around the Kansas City area. 

Sessions will cover the Medicare basics, different coverage options, enrollment and more. Meetings are open to the public with no registration necessary.

School is starting soon across the Kansas City area and we want to support teachers this year by providing classroom supplies to them. Beginning Monday, Aug. 8, we will launch our Back to School Spirit Week to support teachers across the metro area. This campaign will run for two weeks and end on Sunday, Aug. 19

CiCi Rojas (left), who also serves as the YMCA of the USA Board Chair, was elected to a four-year term as the World YMCA Treasurer on July 5, 2022, at the 20th YMCA World Council in Aarhus, Denmark.
