Michelle Ford, Executive Director

Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Hobbies: Golf, spending time at the lake fishing and boating, walking my dog, watching football-Kansas City Chiefs and Oklahoma Sooners-and spending time with friends and family.

Favorite part of working at the Y: “Working with an incredible group of staff and volunteers and talking with members."

Additional Information: Michelle was a team leader opening two new YMCAs in Olathe and Bonner Springs and instrumental in starting the YMCA Challenger program for kids with diverse abilities in 2006. She also spearheaded the construction of our all accessible Challenger Sports Complex that opened in 2010. She has an extensive background in fundraising including capital, annual and planned giving and she is an Annual Support Campaign Faculty Trainer for the YMCA of the USA.

Hobbies: I enjoy taking adventures with my husband and three daughters. I also like spending time near the ocean, coaching our girls in sports, going for long runs outside and catching up with friends and family!

Favorite part of working at the Y: "I enjoy learning about the members who walk through our doors. I am fortunate enough to work in an environment where I am inspired daily by the stories our members share with us."

Hobbies: I like going on road trips with my wife and see all the amazing places throughout the USA. I enjoy visiting new restaurants and tasting all the amazing BBQ that Kansas City has to offer. I also enjoy spending time near the ocean, diving and exploring the deep blues with my shark friends!

Favorite part of working at the Y: My favorite part about the Y is how engaging everyone is. People love to hang out and talk about anything and everything. Everyone is so friendly and community makes everyone feel welcome regardless of where they are from.

Hobbies: Spending time with the important people in my life, getting outdoors and hiking with my dog, kayaking, playing and watching sports.

Favorite part of working at the Y: I love all the people. It is such a welcoming environment from the staff that I work with to the members and program participants that I engage with on a daily basis. The YMCA is a great place to connect with likeminded individuals who are looking to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Additional Information: Prior to joining the YMCA, Megan worked within collegiate athletics both as a sport specific coach (softball - pitching) and as a Mental Performance Consultant providing services to individual athletes and teams. She also worked as a faculty member within higher education teaching Sport and Exercise Psychology along with other psychology courses as needed. She joined the YMCA in 2021 as a Healthy Living Coach, Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer.

Favorite part of working for the Y: Watching how the Y brings people together, whether it’s friendships formed in swim lessons or my parents who met at YMCA Camp Lakewood, it’s good to be part of the community.
