Whether children want to explore the great outdoors or discover a new passion, Y summer camps are full of adventure and fun. Learn more the many types of camp available throughout the metro.

Youth Day Camp

AGES: 5-12 GRADES: Completed Kindergarten-6th Grade
TIME: 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
FEES: $130-$180/week
LOCATION: Blue Valley, Center, Olathe, North Kansas City YMCA, Platte County R-3, Shawnee Mission, Spring Hill

Campers build self-confidence, appreciate teamwork and sportsmanship while gaining independence as they nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and strengthen their bodies. A fun and unique theme is offered each week. Activities include arts and crafts, science and technology, swimming, field trips, nature and more. Convenient camp locations are available across the metro area.

Specialty Day Camp

AGES: 5-12 GRADES: Completed K-6th
TIME: 7 a.m.-6 p.m

Your child can pursue their interests and learn new skills in a positive and fun environment. This year, specialty camp themes are focused on keeping kids active and engaged in fun physical activities, including basketball, baseball and softball, flag football, soccer and track and field. Specialty camp activities are 9 a.m.-noon with traditional camp activities the rest of the day.

YVC Summer of Service

AGES: 11-18 GRADES: 5th-12th
TIME: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
FEES: $89/week, financial assistance available
LOCATION: Local nonprofit agencies. Transportation available for many projects.

Teens can make a difference in their community this summer. Youth Volunteer Corps, hosted by the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, offers weekly service opportunities for youth ages 11-18. Each project includes icebreakers, team-builders, and service-learning lessons. 

Financial assistance is available.

Camp Wood YMCA

LOCATION: YMCA Camp Wood, Elmdale, KS

Tucked within the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas, Camp Wood YMCA gives youth an opportunity to participate in life-changing, outdoor experiences that foster healthy decision-making, lasting friendships, skill development, and strengthened values in a safe, friendly environment. Traditional and teen camps are available all summer, as well as specialty camps centered on the culinary arts, construction, leadership and outdoor activities like horseback riding.
