What is the best part of Summer Day Camp? My favorite part of Summer Day Camp is how much FUN we have! Every day is a new adventure and opportunity for kids to learn something new!

How would you describe the impact that Y Summer Day Camp has on youth? The Y Summer Day Camp provides an opportunity for youth to make friends, learn new things, and have fun! It has a huge impact on youth because it provides them with a community and sense of belonging.

What is your education and work background? I grew up in Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Business Economics. After graduating from college, I spent a year volunteering internationally with elementary students.

Describe any personal experiences with day camp or overnight camp when you were a child that influences you today. When I was a child, I attended an overnight camp and, to this day, it is one of my favorite memories! I had the opportunity to try horseback riding, go-karting, canoeing and a ropes course - all things I had never done before!

What is the best part of Summer Day Camp? The best part of Summer Camp is giving campers the opportunity and freedom to be 100% themselves. Being at Naish, we discover, learn, and reconnect with nature in different ways every day - but there is something special about when you see the change in a child; like they're rediscovering themselves too.

How would you describe the impact that Y Summer Day Camp has on youth? Naish is all about Adventure and encouraging campers to get out of their comfort zone - which all too often can be the comfort of being in front of a screen.

What is your education and work background? Bachelor's Degree from Rockhurst University in Psychology and English.

Describe any personal experiences with day camp or overnight camp when you were a child that influences you today. The most influential thing about camp personally for me, is that I was not a child of camp growing up. As an adult, I love seeing the impact of camp with kids. I feel that in many ways it's a second chance; to give what I never had - a friend family that I could grow with and lean on.

What is the best part of Summer Day Camp? The best part of summer camp is the friendships that form between campers and staff.

How would you describe the impact that Y Summer Day Camp has on youth? I have seen youth make huge gains in self-confidence and social skills. I love seeing a shy, quiet child being able to get up in front of a large group and lead silly camp songs because they have a newfound confidence in themselves.

What is your education and work background? I graduated from the Rockhurst University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership.

When did you begin working at the Y? January 2017

What is the best part of Summer Day Camp? Having youth meet each other on Day 1 and have no knowledge about their peers; and to watch them grow over the summer, develop friendships, develop new skills and see them step out of their comfort zone is an amazing thing to watch.

How would you describe the impact that Y Summer Day Camp has on youth? It helps them grow as an individual, to learn new skills, work with their hands. When children go home on the weekends, they talk to their families about all the fun they did the previous week or what they're looking forward to in the upcoming weeks.

What is your education and work background? I have a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. I'm a certified EMT and currently in the Fire Academy at Johnson County Community College.

Describe any personal experiences with day camp or overnight camp when you were a child that influences you today. I remember being a kid and the excitement that grew with summer camps. You make memories every day and get to try new things.
