English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

Training and Certification
to
English as a Second Language classes develop your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills for work, education and everyday communication! This class is for beginner English language learners with a focus on common phrases and building and a foundational English proficiency.
Class Schedule
- Intro — Monday and Wednesdays 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Intro — Monday and Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Level 1 — Monday and Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Level 2 — Tuesday and Thursdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Level 2 VIRTUAL — Monday and Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Level 3 — Tuesday and Thursdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Level 3 VIRTUAL — Monday and Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Level 4 — Tuesday and Thursdays 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Matter of Balance Class

Active Older Adult Events
to
Free class for older adults who are MEMBERS of the Y and are concerned about falling or have fallen or those who want to increase activity and exercise. Participant must be able to walk independently (a cane is okay). The class is not appropriate for those with dementia. Learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increased activity, improve balance, flexibility and strength, and make changes at home to reduce fall risk.
Class occurs every Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. September 11 through October 30.
(NASM) Personal Training Certification

Training and Certification
to
Ready for new career in health and wellness? Want to start your own personal training services? The Y offers Certified Personal Training (CPT) instruction, accredited through NASM that can help you become a nationally-certified trainer. Becoming a CPT can lead to rewarding work in health and fitness, helping make a difference in people’s lives. Register by September 30, 2023.
Class is every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Y is working to help ensure that our community has access to fresh, nutritious food through Mobile Pantry food distribution programs in partnership with Harvesters. The programs address a growing need for those unsure where their next meal will come from.
Participants stay in their vehicles while volunteers load fresh produce, canned goods and a variety of other non-perishable items into their vehicles. All in need are welcome. The Mobile Food Pantry at the Olathe Family YMCA occurs on the first Wednesday of each month.
