Since 2013, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City has hosted the local Youth Volunteer Corps program, known as YVCKC. Working in partnership with Youth Volunteer Headquarters based in Kansas City, the Y has been able to deliver the YVCKC program and provide thousands of youth ages 11-18 from all backgrounds opportunities to learn from challenging, organized service opportunities to youth.

As we look to the future of the program, recent funding challenges have led the Y and YVC headquarters, based in Kansas City, to come together to determine the best way to move forward to ensure a strong YVC program in Kansas City for years to come.

Beginning April 1, 2019, YVC headquarters will return to hosting the local YVCKC program, with ongoing collaboration with the Y and the community to empower our youth through service learning.

We are working with our associates who support YVCKC and families to ensure a smooth transition for all during this change for the program. Makayla Harris will continue to lead the program as part of YVC headquarters, and youth will continue to have opportunities for service projects. Any scheduled service projects will move forward as planned, and more activities will be added to the calendar soon, including summer opportunities.

In the meantime, you may continue to visit yvckc.org and follow YVCKC at Facebook.com/yvckc or on Twitter @yvckc for the latest information.
