Summer Day Camp Update: A message from Steven Scraggs, Ph.D., Sr. VP, Youth Development Services

YMCA of Greater Kansas City

Camp 2018

Dear Y Club and Camp Families,

Summer is approaching quickly, so we wanted to update you on plans for summer day camp. Our team at the YMCA is excited to get back to work and provide an exciting, fun, and most importantly, safe summer camp experience.

Please know that our team of child care experts continues to work with local, regional and national authorities to ensure that when our programs open, it will be done based on established guidelines and industry standards. Many of you are already aware that the YMCA has operated Y Club Essential Care locations for the children of health care workers, first responders and other essential employees across the metro during the COVID-19 crisis. Offering this service has given our staff great insight into offering child care using enhanced safety precautions.

The YMCA is planning for summer camp programs to open. We understand that we will be receiving additional guidance from public health officials and school district partners, and this guidance could postpone camp openings. We will be sure that we provide you the most up-to-date information as we receive it.

For families who have already registered for camp, your enrollment is confirmed. For those interested in summer day camp but have not enrolled yet, please visit KansasCityYMCA.org/Camp for more information and to register online.

We will continue to provide updates via email and at KansasCityYMCA.org/Camp as information becomes available.

Stay safe and healthy!

Sincerely,

Steven Scraggs, Ph.D.
Sr. Vice President of Youth Development Services
