Get active and join us Saturday, July 20, 2024, for the Atchison Family YMCA/Cray Community Center's annual Amelia Earhart 2K/8K Run/Walk!
Join us for an Active Older Adult (AOA) Field Trip to Ward-Meade Botanical Garden,124 NW Fillmore Street, Topeka. According to the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation website, the 2.5-acre Ward-Meade Botanical Garden was established in 1963. There are approximately 500 varieties of trees and shrubs in the garden. In addition, there are about 5,000 annual flowers planted each year.
We will take a bus from the Atchison YMCA and come back that afternoon. Attendees will have to pay for their own lunch.
This class focuses on self-defense maneuvers that are valuable and confidence building. Learning techniques and practicing in a safe environment will give you the confidence you need in any situation. This class will be physical, so come dressed to move!
Come for the run and stay for the fun! This is a great, family friendly race held in conjunction with the Amelia Earhart Festival in Atchison, which is back this year! Choose from the challenging 8K run/walk that provides some hills to test your training, or the 2K, which is mostly flat with one uphill and one downhill, perfect for aspiring runners/walkers! It is chip timed with finishers medals given to help enhance those bragging rights! The race begins and ends at the Atchison Family YMCA.
