UPDATED 5/28/2021

Based on the recent updates to guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City has updated our health and safety policies.

Face Coverings
Face coverings are no longer required at YMCA membership centers. If you are unvaccinated, face coverings and social distancing are recommended. Anyone is welcome to wear a face covering at any time and to social distance.

Vaccinated Y associates at membership centers will no longer be required to wear face coverings beginning June 1, 2021.

At all other YMCA of Greater Kansas City locations, we continue to monitor guidance from local health departments and will adjust our practices as local health orders change.

Temperature Checks
We will no longer check your temperature when you enter any of our Y membership centers, but we do continue to ask that you monitor your health. Please stay home if:

  • You have been exposed to COVID-19
  • You are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19
  • You are experiencing any symptoms of other contagious illnesses

Outdoor Activities
Face coverings are no longer required for participants and associates at YMCA of Greater Kansas City outdoor activities, including Youth Sports, Bitty Sports and Challenger programs.

Amenities and Programs
Regular programs and amenities will be available at all YMCA of Greater Kansas City locations, including basketball. Saunas and steam rooms will reopen by Monday, May 17. Check with your Y for more information.

Summer Day Camp, Before & After School Programs, Y Learning Academies, Pre-K Programs
Because our programs are in different cities, school districts and counties, guidelines may vary slightly from site to site. At this time, associates and participants will continue to follow current safety protocol. Visit our Camp FAQs page for more information about health and safety procedures for summer day camp.

Head Start
Head Start programs will continue to follow the guidance of the schools and local program authorities. At this time, associates and participants will continue to follow current safety protocols.

Beginning June 1, all YMCA of Greater Kansas City locations will be open to guests.
