KC Current and YMCA Soccer Partnership

The Y is proud to partner with KC Current to offer three KC Current YMCA Soccer programs throughout the metro area. Participants have the opportunity to improve their technique, build social skills, gain confidence and develop leadership abilities.

KC Current YMCA Youth Athlete on the Pitch

KC Current YMCA Bitty Soccer 

Youth ages 3-5 learn the basics of the sport in a structured, fun and noncompetitive environment. 

KC Current YMCA Youth Soccer 

The emphasis is on fun, sportsmanship and teamwork for kindergarten through third grade participants.

KC Current YMCA Challenger Soccer

Open to athletes from 6-30+ years of age with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Participants receive:

- Exclusive KC Current jerseys

- Access to KC Current special events for families

- Special appearances by KC Current players

Participants will also be invited to YMCA Night at a KC Current match in the 2023 season. Each child will receive one free ticket, with the opportunity for families to purchase additional discounted tickets. The participating children will be honored at the match.

Founded in December 2020, the Kansas City Current is led by the ownership group of Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Matthews. The team competes in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and played its first season in 2021. The Kansas City Current announced plans for the first stadium purpose-built for an NWSL team with expected completion in 2024. The team will play in 2023 at Children’s Mercy Park.
