Being a Personal Trainer
Want more information about becoming a nationally accredited Certified Personal Trainer? Contact the Healthy Living Director at the specific Y location or submit your information below.
Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer. Participants who complete the course will become certified in American Safety and Health Institute's (ASHI) courses: CPR Pro (BLS) for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid for the Community, and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
The comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to guard by anticipating and preventing problems before they occur and how to take action to help those in danger when necessary. The course includes accident prevention, guarding techniques, pool management and even more safety skills.
Junior Lifeguard Classes
If you love to swim and care about the safety of others, we invite you to train to be a Junior Lifeguard. The course will help you gain the confidence and knowledge to apply for a lifeguard position at 16 years old. This program combines education with recreation, plus covers the technical skills of lifeguarding and the interpersonal skills to work with members and guests. Participants will learn about water safety, swim instruction, lifeguard skills, and leadership on the pool deck.
