The North Kansas City YMCA celebrated the completion of construction on several new spaces that will allow the expansion of programs and services for its nearly 9,000 members. Community members came out for the celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, January 5, at the center.

The 15,000 square foot expansion includes the following:

  • An expanded wellness floor with more than 70 pieces of new equipment
  • A new group exercise studio
  • A new performance studio with innovative fitness equipment
  • A healthy food area
  • An updated Welcome Center
  • Enhanced lighting throughout the building

Construction began in June 2017. The project was made possible thanks to a partnership between the City of North Kansas City and the Y.

“We’re so grateful for the partnership with the City of North Kansas City because it allows us to positively affect the lives of families throughout the Northland,” David Byrd, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. We Look forward to welcoming many new members and giving all of our members access to life-strengthening programs.”
