MEET THE COACHES

Head Coach, Charlie Lopez Silva

Coach Charlie’s water polo journey began in Los Angeles, where he played club water polo for COLA before continuing at Santa Monica College (SMC). He also began coaching high school and club programs, working with athletes who went on to the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and national-level competition.

After moving to Kansas City, Charlie stayed involved in aquatics through swim lessons, lifeguarding and water safety. He also returned to the pool as a player with the Krakens Masters Water Polo Team.

Today, Charlie is passionate about growing water polo in Kansas City and creating opportunities for youth and adults to experience the sport. His coaching focuses on strong fundamentals, teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, and most importantly, having fun in the water.

Coach Charlie is excited to be on deck and looks forward to helping grow the next generation of water polo players in Kansas City!

Water Polo Coach, Finn Pardon

Coach Finn’s water polo journey has taken him from Southern California to NCAA Division I water polo and eventually to the professional level in Spain. He competed at San José State University, where he was a two-time ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American, earned First-Team All-Golden Coast Conference honors, and finished his collegiate career as the program’s career scoring leader following its reinstatement in 2015.

After college, Finn continued his career in Spain, where he played professionally from 2021 to 2024 for Centre Natació Mataró and Club Natación Caballa. Competing in Spain gave him the opportunity to experience a different style of water polo and learn from coaches and players in one of the sport’s strongest water polo cultures.

Finn has also been coaching water polo since 2016, working with high school and college-level athletes. His experience as both a coach and player allows him to bring concepts from the collegiate and professional game to the pool while adapting them to each athlete’s age and experience level.

Now in Kansas City, Finn is excited to help grow the game and introduce more athletes to the sport that has been such a major part of his life. His coaching focuses on strong fundamentals, water polo IQ, positional awareness, teamwork, and creating a competitive environment where athletes can improve while enjoying the game.

For Coach Finn, water polo is about more than what happens in the pool. It teaches athletes how to compete, communicate, work as a team, and continually challenge themselves to improve.

Coach Finn is excited to be on deck and to help develop the next generation of water polo players in Kansas City!
