Paul Henson - AOA Field Trip - National Frontier Trails Museum
Come explore the National Frontier Trails Museum located at 318 W. Pacific Ave, Independence, MO. They bill this as the only museum in the nation devoted to the three great western routes: the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails. Hear the stories and read diaries of the Pioneer's settlement. Cost:$16 per person includes museum, wagon ride and staff escort. Meet at 10:10 a.m. in the Paul Henson YMCA lobby to carpool. RSVP and make payment by July 13 at the Welcome Center. Optional lunch following the tour.
PCCCS - AOA - Kactus Creek Croquet
Enjoy grilled hot dogs and golf croquet with Kathy. Meet at 5 p.m. in the PCCCS lobby to carpool. Regulation course lit for evening play. Bring a side dish to share and your favorite beverage.
Olathe - AOA - KC T-Bones Baseball
Join friends for a night out see the Kansas City T - Bones play the Lincoln Saltdogs. Seats are in the shade, close to home plate and behind the netting. Great food and drink specials this evening too.
PCCCS - AOA - Dinner and a Movie
Join Kathy as we go to an late afternoon movie follow by dinner at Applebee's across from the AMC Barrywoods Theatre. See month at a glace for movie and show time.
Olathe - AOA - Eclipse Field Trip
Be among the few folks with a special invitation to see the upcoming total solar eclipse in the prime viewing spot of St. Joseph, Missouri on August 21, 2017. Depart the Olathe Y at 7:20 a.m. and head o Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, where you will have reservations for a private viewing party. Your day will include a tour of the Walter Cronkite Memorial with a replay of Cronkite's 1979 talk about that year's Eclipse. You will also attend a presentation, in layperson's terms, about what will happen during the total eclipse. You'll enjoy an included lunch on site and a variety of fun activities, even a photo op in a spacesuit! When it is time to watch the eclipse, you can view it live outside, with the special protective glasses that are provided, or stay inside and seated in cool air conditioned comfort-in the auditorium. There you will be able to view a satellite feed direct from NASA. After the eclipse, reboard the coach and return back to Olathe around 4:00 p.m.
