Red Bridge Family YMCA to Close December 17

YMCA of Greater Kansas City
Noviembre 9, 2021
Announcement

Dear Red Bridge Family YMCA Members,

The COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges for nonprofit organizations, and the Y is no exception.

Facility usage and membership have decreased significantly at the Red Bridge Family YMCA and have not returned to pre-pandemic levels. As a result, financial resources are limited, and it’s no longer sustainable to operate the Red Bridge Family YMCA. The last day of operations at the Red Bridge Family YMCA will be December 17, 2021.

We appreciate your support of the Y, and we understand the inconvenience this change may cause for you. The Red Bridge Family YMCA will continue to operate through December 17 as staffing allows. Below is additional information about this transition.

Y Membership and Program Transition

  • You will receive an email and letter from the Y with information about continuing your membership at another Y location.

    • The nearest locations are Paul Henson Family YMCA, 4900 W 79th Street, Prairie Village, KS, 66208; and Cleaver Family YMCA, 7000 Troost, Kansas City, MO, 64131. Your membership has always given you access to all of the Y's Greater Kansas City locations, and you may begin using another Y at any time.

    • The nearest location to your home address will be listed in your letter. If you would like to transfer to a different location than the one listed in your letter, please contact us at 816.360.3311 or Feedback@KansasCityYMCA.org from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • If you have access to the Y through a third-party insurance benefit, such as SilverSneakers®, Active and Fit®, Renew Active or AARP® Medicare Supplement, you may use your benefit to access other programs for active older adults in the community at other YMCAs or providers covered by your plan. You do not need to contact the Y.

  • For more information, to update your membership account or to cancel your membership, contact Membership Support at 816.360.3311 or Feedback@KansasCityYMCA.org.

  • Jackson County Youth and Bitty Sports will continue uninterrupted for current and future seasons.

The Y is much more than a building. It’s a community of supporters, volunteers and associates, which allows us to continue to impact our community beyond the walls of a building. We will continue to explore the best way to adapt and serve with limited resources during these changing times.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Mark Hulet
