An Update from Mark Hulet, Interim President and CEO

Dear Friends,

I am honored to serve as the interim president and CEO during this time of great opportunity for our Y.

During 2022, we continued to address the greatest needs of our community, and at the same time, move beyond the pandemic.

Here are a few highlights of our community impact.

  • Learn to Swim programs to prevent drowning expanded, serving more than 1,000 youth thanks to generous grant and donor funds.
  • Before and after school programs and summer day camps provided much-needed social and learning opportunities for youth - and a lifeline for working parents, as we served more than 3,000 a day in Y Club and more than 2,400 youth in summer day camp.
  • Food distribution programs grew to help individuals and families struggling with food insecurity as inflation and supply chain issues created additional challenges. Nearly 300,000 pounds of food were distributed.

In addition, the Board of Directors approved a new strategic plan in December. The plan is the result of a year of input, analysis and development of strategies and tactics to achieve goals that will ensure our Y is making a positive impact in our community for many years to come.

So as we begin the new year, I’m energized as we implement our new strategic plan. It focuses on three strategic imperatives: Culture, Organizational Excellence and Sustainability. Within those areas, the plan includes strategies that relate to increasing membership, increasing donations, and recruiting and retaining associates to deliver our mission.

We look forward to strengthening our Y and growing toward a new and brighter future by investing in our diverse community through programs and services that support physical, mental and spiritual well-being for all.

Thank you for your ongoing support. I look forward to keeping you updated on our impact.
