In response to the COVID-19 health crisis, we have added a layer of new procedures to help everyone stay safe and healthy. Health and Safety Protocol FAQs
What are you doing to keep program participants safe?
- Temperature checks for anyone entering our building, including program participants, volunteers, and associates. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be admitted.
- Keep your distance by staying at least six feet away from others.
- Please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before entering the pool deck. Additional hand-sanitizing stations will be available.
- Stay home if sick or vulnerable to illness.
Can families accompany youth during swim lessons?
Help limit hallway and pool deck traffic by only sending one parent with your child to the locker rooms, natatorium, and surrounding areas. For members with multiple children, Kids Zone may be an option for siblings ages 12 weeks to 8 years not enrolled in lessons. Check hours and availability.
Seating will be limited on the deck and throughout the facility. Parents are not required to stay in the pool area during lessons. Members may exercise or participate in other activities during the lesson and return to pick up your child at the end of the lesson.
Are masks required at the Y?
For everyone's safety, masks are required in common areas, including the pool deck. Age requirements vary depending on local health guidelines. Please check the center-specific guidelines on our website for more information.
When is open swim?
Pool hours vary by center as we reopen amenities in phases. Please visit KansasCityYMCA.org/Reopening for the latest pool hours for your Y.
How can I receive updates about swim lessons?
If you haven’t already, be sure to download the PlayerSpace mobile app and activate your account to receive updates about swim lessons. We've been hard at work getting our facilities ready to reopen safely and responsibly, and have new procedures in place. Because we operate in multiple states, counties and cities, we plan to reopen facilities in phases.
