When do Young Achievers meet?

Young Achievers meet two Saturdays a month for Career Clusters and Enhancement sessions. These meetings are led by volunteer minority professionals called Adult Achievers.

 

What does a Young Achievers meeting focus on?

Career Clusters focus on career development through tours, hands-on practicing, and interactive activities.

Enhancement meetings focus on skill-building activities such as resume writing, completing college applications, life skills development and SAT/ACT prep.  

Where are Young Achievers meetings held?

Saturday sessions are held on the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).  Lunch is provided at no charge for every Saturday session.

We also have various satellite locations depending on number of students within the area. View a list of satellite locations and sign up for a satellite location.

How much does it cost to participate in Young Achievers?

The annual program fee for Young Achievers is $100, register early and save $50. You may register and submit your payment online, or you may register and submit payment in person at any Y center in Kansas City.

Financial assistance is available. 

Some programs, including the Spring College Tour have additional fees. 

Who can join Young Achievers?

Any student who is in grades 6 to 12 and lives in the greater Kansas City metro area may apply to be a Young Achiever. Our Young Achievers represent 56 schools from 6 metro counties.

What is the application process?

Preregistration is now open for the 2019-20 school year. Register early and pay a discounted program fee of $50. Click here to register.
