MEMBERSHIP AND HEALTHY LIVING

Although Danny has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked several years in the business management field, his heart wasn’t in it. He knew he wanted to be in fitness and health, which brought him to the Y.

He has worn many hats in his career here, including membership engagement director, healthy living coach, group exercise instructor, personal trainer and community initiatives director. He has also worked at several locations across the metro.

Danny has a passion for whole body wellness and feels strongly that a healthy lifestyle should be available to everyone. In his current role, he and his fitness staff work to design and maintain a diverse schedule of activities, classes and programs for members, no matter their ability or fitness level.

He has implemented many healthy eating classes, including Salsa Sabor Y Salud, a program designed for the Hispanic community focusing on food and fitness, and Y Weight, a program focusing on healthy eating designed for all to enjoy.

A lifelong athlete, Danny has a passion to provide kids in his community an opportunity to play sports. He developed a sports program -- including soccer, football and basketball -- for his local Y where one had been missing for years, and created a sports programming partnerships with Wyandotte County Parks and Recreation.

Danny’s love of people and being involved in improving his community has made him never look back on his decision to leave accounting behind.
