The new Teen Tech Center at the Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter Community Center will give youth the opportunity to get hands-on technology training and mentoring. To celebrate, the Y hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony open to the community on Wednesday, May 11, at the Linwood location, 3800 E. Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Mo., 64138.

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City wants you to know your risk for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, plus the steps you can take now to reduce your chances of developing the disease.

In the United States alone, diabetes affects more than 30 million people. Another 84.1 million Americans have prediabetes, yet only about 10 percent of them know it.

Challenge Your Fashion Presented by ProAthlete was filled with fun, fashion and great times. Our 14th annual event was held on March 5, 2022 at the Lowes Hotel in Downtown Kansas City.

Following the drowning of a 13-year-old Kansas City, Kan., boy last summer, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, Kansas City Kansas Public Schools and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas are launching a Learn to Swim program. The program, funded by a grant from WarnerMedia, will provide swim lessons at no cost to students in the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools. A ceremony to kick off the program will be February 23.

To help ensure parking is available for Kirk Family YMCA members and program participants in our lot, we will begin validating parking on Monday, February 28, 2022. Y members and program participants may park in the lot for up to 3 hours at no cost with validation.

The Kansas City Current is proud to support the YMCA of Greater Kansas City’s Soccer Programs in partnership with Hy-Vee. More than 1,500 children will participate in the three different programs, officially known as KC Current YMCA Soccer.
