Thanks to Chairs Mark Moberly and Kerri Stowell, Honorary Chairs Frank and Nancy Kirk, our sponsors, volunteers and guests for making this event a success.

Proceeds benefit the YMCA of Greater Kansas City's adaptive programs, which provide youth and adults with disabilities the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive through recreational and educational opportunities, including sports, swim lessons, social events, Head Start, and before and after school programs.

If you were unable to attend or didn't get that auction item you wanted, there's still time to make a donation.

About
Adaptive Programs

Throughout the Y, programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible, to ensure all have the opportunity to be active and belong.

SPORTS AND SOCIAL EVENTS

Individuals with disabilities of all ages have the opportunity to build skills, stay active and connect with friends through YMCA Challenger adaptive sports and social events. Activities are led by volunteers and provide important opportunities for new experiences. Sports include baseball, basketball, bowling, flag football, and soccer. Young Adult social events range from outings to visit attractions around Kansas City to dance parties at the Y.

SWIM LESSONS

People of all ages and abilities can learn to swim at the Y. Y adaptive swim lessons help people with disabilities get active, develop new skills and gain confidence. Classes are modified to work with each participant on individual needs while learning basic water safety and swimming skills.

HEAD START

The Y’s Head Start programs provide high-quality inclusive learning opportunities that are individualized to support each child's and family's unique needs. Ten percent of enrollment opportunities are reserved for children with disabilities from ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Nearly half of those children are diagnosed after they enroll in the program. Y Head Start programs provide screenings and ongoing assessments to ensure children receive the critical early intervention and transition services they need to have positive outcomes in all their future endeavors.

SCHOOL-AGE (Day Camp and Before & After School Y Club)

The Y’s school-age programs work with children of all abilities to ensure that they are included, accepted, learning and making friends. Working with parents and children, the Y’s school-age programs provide opportunities for social, emotional and physical development.
